New Year’s Resolutions for Quilters… We Have 2017 All Sewn Up!

New Year’s Resolutions for Quilters… We Have 2017 All Sewn Up!

The thought of making New Year’s resolutions is daunting for some of us, though, we do pledge to remain positive and feel accomplished. Making those resolutions can keep us on the straight and narrow to make sure that our year goes as planned (with some playtime, of course) and to keep us organized.

Merry Moose has created a short list of ideas that can help us in our quilting regimen. Tackling all or a few will help to keep you having fun while moving forward all year:

  1. Take a class on Paper Piecing (we have a great suggestion for a class). Now that Paper Piecing is my friend, I cannot speak enough about it! This one had to be first!
  2. Finish old UFOs before beginning a new one. “I will put the other 23 projects aside just until I finish this one.” Uh-huh! Does that sound familiar? We have the need to feed our ingenuity, and creating is much more fun than “cleaning house”, as they say. We all must complete to compete…
  3. Read about your favorite craft…specifically, the quilting book – “Little Handfuls of Scraps,” by Edyta Sitar. You’ll learn how to turn those leftover fabric scraps into fabulous quilts or “mini” projects that speak to who you are! Bring on an easy or challenging piecing venture!
  4. Share what you’re working on with us! Inquiring minds, you know! Let us applaud you and your success in progress. We might even learn something from you. Send us a message through our Facebook Page to show us what you’re working on.
  5. Change out your blades, cutters and needles, especially if it’s been a while since you have.
  6. Help someone who is not the pro you are. Donate time to helping those who truly have the desire to learn. You will have some fun, share your gift, and perhaps make a friend in the process!
  7. Purge the old stuff. This one probably should have been first. Out with the old and in with the new! Check out your least desired patterns, fabrics, and notions that no longer interest you or no longer serve your creativity.
  8. Give back to your community or to your own family. If you are able, there may be someone who truly deserves or has earned a work of art.
  9. Stay focused and enjoy your talent. Many people wish that they had your persistence and flair for design.
  10. Enter a contest, or start a contest…all proceeds to benefit a charity or person in need.

Happy New Year from Merry Moose Quilt Shoppe! We hope that all of your quilting dreams come true in 2017! Thank you for staying tuned and for reading our blog.
