Worldwide Quilting Day

Worldwide Quilting Day

What day is March 18th ladies?! It’s more than the day after St. Patrick’s Day…when the leprechaun climbs back into his box of Lucky Charms. March 18th is Worldwide Quilting Day! You don’t want to miss visiting Merry Moose Quilt Shoppe for some fun activities that will be magically delightful!

Worldwide Quilting Day began in 1991 to inspire those who are passionate about quilting and to encourage others to begin. Quilting is one of those things that once you delve into the practice, you’re hooked! Your future is sewn up, and you’re loving it to pieces.

Quilting is a rather friendly, or friend-to-friend activity, hobby, or profession. Your passion can become your business, or your creative outlet. Diving into colors, fabrics, threads, techniques, and skills, is a delicious habit. Just think…there is an entire day that is set aside and celebrated in honor of this fabulous frivolity and talent which you own. The month of March is a lucky time to commemorate such a fun flair with fabric.

Did you know that there is a Quilter’s Hall of Fame? Marion, Indiana, is home to stunning works of art. You may wander the gorgeous gardens, take a class, and learn more about Marie Webster, Historian, quilt designer, and the first woman to write a book about American quilting. She was a pioneer who was  inducted into the Quilter’s Hall of Fame in 1991. She brought vision and creativity to the fine art that brings us such joy! We would like to think that she was the reason for creating Worldwide Quilting Day.

Be sure to check in at Merry Moose Quilt Shoppe on March 18th for some fun, goodies, great sale prices and encouragement from friendly folks!
